Hello everyone! My name is Megan, I’m a writer, photographer, and psychology major. I’ve been writing since I was 9 years old and kept a journal at my bed side ever since then. I started writing poetry at the same time (you can only imagine how bad it was then), and surprisingly I’ve kept up with it since. I also picked up a camera the same time. I guess 9 years old was the most important time due to my creativity breakthrough. It was a small point and shoot camera, but it did what I wanted at the time. Which became my beginning to my photography business.
My poetry, isn’t for everyone, and I’ll admit that I’m not the most talented, especially compared to those who inspire me: Lord Byron, Robert Browning, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Maya Angelou, Rupi Kaur. I know its a very wide variety, but I love their works and they continue to inspire me greatly.
I want to be a Therapist, which is why I am currently enrolled in Texas State University. I’m honestly so excited to see where my journey there will take me. And I hope to be accepted into grad school afterwards. Praying that I’ll get the opportunity to introduce myself as Dr. Megan Strickland. I want to be a therapist, because I want to help people realize what they already have inside, is strength, worthiness, and courage. My inspiration for this field has been a friend that I lost to drugs, friends that I know struggle with anxiety and depression (I’m in the same boat), and Brene Brown. She researches Shame and Vulnerability, and her results have been entirely life changing.
So, this is a little bit about me. I promise to write as much as I can, and annoy y’all with all kinds of random facts and updates! Thank you for reading my blog, and being apart of my journey.
