The baking fail

So… The beginning of this last month I decided to bake. Obviously, not from scratch, but I bought the boxes and the icing and the decorative gummy eyeballs for Halloween. They were cute!

Anyways, I baked them well, with no mistakes. Everything was great. I put icing on them, the sprinkles and the eyeballs and I couldn’t be prouder. So, in order to preserve my lovely cupcakes I had created (from out of the box), I placed them back in the oven except 4 that wouldn’t fit on the tray.

My boyfriend comes home from work later that night and I am so excited to show him my beautiful cupcakes. They were so cute, so perfect. And when I opened the oven door (if it’s even called a door, or whatever) the icing was melted along with the gummy eyeballs and it was, quite literal, a hot mess. I was crushed. He was laughing his ass off. I was devastated. He wanted to take pictures. Apparently I had forgotten to let the oven cool down after turning it off…. Because I thought it’d be fine by the time I was icing all the cupcakes. Nope. Not a correct assumption. And yes, I feel like an ass.

Anyways, that was my experience in the kitchen. Well the most recent memorable one. Thankfully, they were still edible and delicious.

Oh and btw, they were chocolate with chocolate chips inside. It was a messy kind of heaven.
