Finally a pastor said it.
I went to church with my friend to a really small church. So small the pastor didn’t need a microphone to preach. So small that she would stop in the middle of her sentence and interact with the people.
Anyways, she opened her sermon with politics. Specifically, the tragedy that happened in Orlando. And as soon as she mentioned the gay club I was thinking “Great! Another person to say they need to be delivered, or repent for their sins, or they shouldn’t have been out partying to begin with” something along those lines. And I was bracing myself for yet another pastor to fail at the most important part of reaching out to other people. Unconditional love.
It never came. She never said those condescending words of “warn your children not be around homosexuals they may catch it!” Or “they’re going to hell!” Instead she said that tragedy happened. That 50 lives were lost. And that it doesn’t matter how you look, how you worship or how you love. Because Gods love knows no bounds. His love knows no limits. He said to come as you are not how the church wants you to be. Not how your spouse or family may want you to be. But as you are. Baggage and all. Sinful desires and struggles and all. Exactly how you are now.
Anyway, rant over. Just glad someone else sees it the same way I do. And a Pastor at that.
