Freakishly Funny Accident

Like most pretty funny stories, this one involves an injury. Shocker, am I right? Like most funny stories, this one is also very short. In fact, it probably took me less than five minutes to make the mistake that now has me in bed with my foot wrapped and propped up on a folded body pillow. It is pretty hilarious. However, last night when I was reminding myself to breathe to avoid passing out, it was not funny. Spoiler alert, I don’t take pain very well.

Anyways, on to the story. I went roller skating with some coworkers for one of our coworker’s birthday. I was so pumped. Super excited. I thought it was going to be like riding a bike if I hadn’t ridden a bike for approximately six years. I went on to the rink feeling pretty badass. I was off to a great start ready to be awesome. I didn’t even make the turn before I fell. I know you’re probably thinking, “one fall?” “That’s not even bad!” Right? You’re expected to fall and bust your ass on the roller rink if you are inexperienced. You’re supposed to leave the rink with bruises all over your knees and be able to get back up each time.

Your girl was down for the count after one fall. Yeah, I’m pretty embarrassed. I ended up spraining my ankle and leaving a little while after I had arrived. Luckily, my amazing boyfriend was there to help me out to our car as well as up the three flights of stairs to our apartment. As he carried me out to the car, someone had said that she hoped she would find someone to carry her if she was injured. Girl, I hope so too! Everyone needs a little “pick-me-up” sometimes.

The moral to the story is, don’t be stupid and in the event that you might be prone to stupidity, be sure to land properly. Also, if you happen to be super emotional like yours truly, be sure to remember that freak accidents happen. Dust it off with jokes about how you were only in the rink for a second or that you were the first one to fall. Also, give yourself time to heal and remember not to blame yourself. There is no way to know the future or how to combat it, so remember to be kind to yourself and to laugh at yourself. I mean let’s be honest, it is pretty hilarious.

That’s my glorious story for today. If I happen to run into any further mischief, I’ll be sure to write about it.

‘Till next time.
